Ever been burned by a straight-to-video movie? Did you want to warn somebody about it? Ever wanted more information about a DTV (direct-to-video) release before you rented it? Well, now you can have all of your questions answered!

Straight-to-Video Scoop is a website community that specializes in the review of straight-to-video releases covering a wide range of genres, and we want YOU to help us review those movies! Why waste money (and time) on a movie you thought might be pretty good but actually sucked to the 12th power? Join the STVS community and share valuable information that will help you and others decide what to rent and what to forget.

Okay, here's how this works. Straight-to-Video Scoop reviews straight-to-video releases on a weekly basis, with the priority given to those that have just been released. New releases are always available every Tuesday at the video store. For review purposes, each movie will be given two ratings:

Quality Rating: This, of course, is an indication of the overall quality of the film.

Riff Rating: This pertains to its potential for being made fun of, a la Mystery Science Theater 3000.

We use ice cream scoops for the ratings, with five being the highest and none being the lowest. (Believe us, there are some movies with no scoops.) Below is a rough guide for the quality rating.
Five scoops = This might have made some money in the theater.
Four scoops = Well worth the price of renting, although not quite theater material.
Three scoops = Has its share of problems, but actually resembles a film.
Two scoops = A less-than-average "B" film, which should tell you all you need to know.
One scoop = Could conceivably be used as a way to interrogate prisoners.
No scoops = Run. Run far and run fast.

The individual reviews will break the movie down into separate parts: plot, acting, special effects, etc., and will even include some optional segments. Click here to register as an official Straight to Video Scoop reviewer. Join the STVS community, maximize your straight-to-video movie experience, and help others do the same!
